How to install a DVD Combo CDRW Burner Drive in a Laptop Notebook Computer

The Laptop Notebook DVD-ROM CD-RW Combo Drive IDE LG CD Burner is compatible with most Notebook and Laptop Computers. The first thing you will want to ensure is whether your current drive’s front bezel has a straight rectangular shape to it and whether the dimensions for the front bezel is: 0.5″ (12.7mm) x 5.04″ (128mm).

The second thing is to look for the screws that hold the combo drive, plate, and structure to the rest of laptop notebook computer framework. Remove the plate by removing the black screws (usually two to four) from the bottom of laptop notebook computer. Then removing additional screws to allow separation of the original combo drive. Please note that your current drive may use a special adapter connector (where the 40-pin connector is) and a special mounting frame. You will need to remove this connector, frame, and power connector from your current drive and mount these onto your Laptop Notebook DVD-ROM CD-RW Combo Drive IDE LG CD Burner. Others don’t even have that type of structure, because to lower total manufacturing cost, and as simple as removing a couple of screws underneath is all that’s neccessary without removing plate and structures.

The third thing of importance is to place carefully the small, 40-pin rectangular connector located inside containment of the optical drive unit away from the metal frame to prevent pinches during installation. Your current drive should have this small, rectangular 40-pin connector and one power connecter composed of four wires, securely connected to the Laptop Notebook DVD-ROM CD-RW Combo Drive IDE LG CD Burner. Place the plate and screws back on the bottom of laptop notebook computer just as before to prevent exposure or on some models just the couple of screws. And that’s it, however, happy burning!:D
